PEACE!

I have felt the peace of God in a very real and practical way in my life this year... schoolwork!!

I USED to be the type of person who could very easily get stressed out and worried about stuff, especially when it came to school, and especially around the December/April crunch time! I'm a BIT of a perfectionist and in my first two years of university it would take me FOREVER to do assignments... I would spend hours (i'm not kidding!) writing and rewriting paragraphs and sentences, trying to get them as perfect as posssible. This meant that I'd always be working right up to the last minute and every essay I did would be a painful and hugely stressful experience.

My prayer going into this year was for LESS STRESS... and God has answered that prayer for me in a HUGE way. I find when I sit down to write an assignment the ideas and words come quickly and I'm satisfied with what I write the first time. In a very real way it is "God-breathed." I have peace when I'm working and peace when I hand things in, knowing it's the best that I can do. It is definitely a "peace that passes all understanding" and something I know could only come from God!

Attention all hopeless romantics!

My favorite kind of movies (much to Brian's chagrin... although I tend to think that most guys secretly LIKE being forced to watch them!) are romantic comedies!! And the best part about them are all the wonderfully cheesy lines that they produce. So in honour of the best and the worst of this genre, I thought we should all get together and share our most favorite lines from romantic comedies... the cheesiest of all cheese if you will.

I'll start with mine...

Right now I feel two things - both very encouraged and very challenged. We got the chance to watch the ministries without borders "sowing and reaping report" this morning and WOW! I was completely blown away to learn that collectively mwb has planted over one million dollars into nations and people around the world... and that's just this year... i mean, how incredible is that?! It's sooo encouraging to see the many ways that the money we give is making such a HUGE difference for our brothers and sisters and their respective ministries. I was encouraged by this in a BIG way but i was also very challenged by what we saw.

I feel like sometimes our view is so narrow and we often don't see far beyond our immediate circumstances and surroundings... our schools or cities and even beyond our own lives. It can be so easy to get wrapped up in our littles bubbles and routines and we forget about the bigger picture, which is oftentimes... dare I say??... more important than all the trivial stuff we let ourselves get bogged down in. Watching the video this morning I was thinking, "how often do I think about THIS?"... and the answer, I hate to say, was definitely - "not enough." The needs of the world are so great but the exciting thing is... our Lord is more than enough to meet those needs! The more we see the gospel taken into the world, the more we will see an end to civil wars, to social injustice, to poverty and all the things that threaten so many.

Although I have it in my heart to one day physically travel to some of those places we saw today... part of me can also be there right now, both through the finances and prayers I commit to the work of God throughout the world. I feel challenged to do that in greater measure. Let's see the world transformed!!

On the occasion of my very first post I need to say first and foremost...

Happy Birthday to my wonderful friend Amy D!!
I had a lovely lunch with this special girl today and for those of you who may not know her as well as I do, I highly recommend it! So... happy bday Ames! Love you lots!

Since my DAD recently started blogging I realized that I really could not contine to let him be more hip than me... so here I am!! and looking foreward to lots of blogging fun!!
